Mustangs’ Keylor commits to ACHA’s Arizona State University

Matthew Keylor of the Williams Lake Mustangs has committed to play collegiate hockey for the Arizona State University Sun Devils in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.

In his final Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) season, Keylor had 36 points in 44 regular season games – he was third on the Mustangs with 27 assists. He started with the Kelowna Chiefs.

“I’m extremely pumped to have the opportunity to play for ASU,” said Keylor, an Edmonton native. “It has been my dream school ever since I was a kid. Now I have the chance to play there.”

The 5-10, 180-pound forward improved his mental game. Keylor credited the Mustangs organization with helping him earn this opportunity because along with being extremely well run, they care about their players.

“From coach Ty through to the staff, all they wanted to see was for you to succeed,” said Keylor, who joined the league from the SSAC U18 AA program. “They helped provide each player with great mentorship and tools, which I am very grateful for. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to finish off my junior career.”

Keylor played in 131 career KIJHL regular season games with the Chiefs and Mustangs and had 34 goals and 91 points. He played in 10 KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games and had four points.
