Summerland, BC – The Summerland Steam wish to announce a change to their Hockey Operations Staff ahead of the 2019/20 KIJHL Season. General Manager Mike Rigby’s contract has come to an end as of April 28th, 2019, and a mutual decision has been made to not renew for the 2019/20 season.
Rigby, who has been with the Steam since the 2013/14 season as Director of Player Development, transitioned to the role of General Manager in 2016/17. He helped build Okanagan Division contenders ever since and will be greatly missed. He will step away from junior hockey to focus on his local business, Sunshine Glass & Mirror, as well as spend more time with his wife, Brenda, and their family. The Steam organization thanks Mike for his efforts over the past seven seasons and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.
“Mike has been an integral part of our organization for a very long time, and we’re sad to see him depart” Said Team President Sean Paxman, “We’re happy to have had Mike here for as long as we have in multiple roles, and the last three seasons as our General Manager. We wish Mike the best in his future endeavours as he steps away to spend more time with his family and enjoys the road to retirement.”
Steve Hogg will take over as General Manager in the interim and can be reached at gm@summerlandsteam.com for any inquiries or hockey related questions. A permanent replacement for the position will be named in the near future.
